For almost two months I have had small, pimple-like bumps around my anus. I went to the doctor and she said that it doesn't look serious but they haven't gone away. I am not a virgin, but the last time I had sex was in September of last year and I used protection. What could be the problem?

Obviously I cannot make a diagnosis on the Internet. Only a doctor can diagnosis a condition after a medical examination. Genital or anal bumps can be many things though—some STDs, some not. In the STD world bumps can be caused by viral infections like HPV (warts), molluscum and herpes. Sometimes syphilis can also cause bumps. Non-STDs associated with bumps can be swollen or infected hair follicles or small glands or cysts.
