QUESTION
For about 2 weeks, I have had irritation around the penis, where I have burning and redness around the foreskin. It hurts to pull the skin back of the foreskin when I urinate. It doesn't hurt to pee but, just to pull the foreskin back. What could be wrong with me?
ANSWER
Burning and redness of the foreskin suggests inflammation. Inflammation can be from trauma (due to prolonged sexual activity, dry masturbation), chemical burns or allergies, yeast infections and occasionally STDs such as herpes or syphilis. Only a doctor can make a diagnosis after a check-up. So please get tested! We can’t diagnose an STD online, so head to your doctor or local clinic. Check out www.hivtest.org to find local clinics.
