PAINFUL URINATION AFTER UNPROTECTED SEX

QUESTION
I had unprotected sex with a woman. About a week later, I woke up and went to the bathroom is began burning when I urinated. It has now been 6 days and it still burns slightly when I urinate but not as bad as when it started out. Also the tip of my penis seems to be a little red. Can you tell me if this is a STD?

ANSWER
I can’t tell you for sure that you have an STD—no source can provide a trustworthy diagnosis online! Your symptoms do sound suspicious, however. Burning urination and redness can appear with STDs such as gonorrhea or chlamydia.

Any man with possible symptoms of an STD—burning with urination, penile discharge, painful testicles, sore on the penis or scrotum, should get tested right away: visit http://SFCityClinic.org [SFCityClinic.org] for places in San Francisco, try http://STDTest.org or call the CDC National Hotline for services near you: 1-800-CDC-INFO.

To your health,
Dr. K
